REFERENCE Customers

ASCTEC Online Limited have been associated with many well known companies over the years, however more notable clients include: V2 Music, Broadcasting Data Services, Cherwell Council, Sun Chemical, Natexis Banque Populaires, Essex Ambulance Service, Heidelberg Graphic Equipment and Hotchkiss Ltd.
ASCTEC Online Limited encourages prospective clients to contact companies they have worked with, however we do ask that the initial contact be made through ourselves.

Broadcasting Data Services are a media based company who specialise in delivering television listings and monitoring the electronic programming guides for satellite broadcasters and to the public.

They have recently moved from their Wood Lane premises to a new Building in Ealing Broadway, London and ASCTEC Online Limited was contracted to design and implement a new structured cabling system infrastructure for the new building. Some 800 plus ITT LAN 200 outlets were installed across 3 floors to provide current and future 10/100 connectivity, without compromising the proposed day-to-day operation of BDS.

ASCTEC Online Limited specified and provided the new communication cabinets and specialist computer racking for the ground floor communications room, into which the new cabling infrastructure and associated 3Com network equipment was installed. The specification enabled BDS to incorporate a Gigabit Ethernet backbone infrastructure with 10/100 connectivity to all of their users.

Built-in redundancy within the network equipment was devised to ensure that within 30 minutes of a complete failure of the Gigabit Ethernet switch and its back up power unit, all users could continue to access the main servers with only a minor deterioration in speed.

We continue to be involved with Broadcasting Data Services.

A world-wide company primarily involved with the making and distribution of printing inks. ASCTEC Online Limited has been and still is involved with the installation of high performance cabling installations through out the UK for Sun Chemical.
The majority of their networks are installed within an industrial environment with caution given to the chemical elements required to produce the ink products. ASCTEC Online Limited is entrusted to install new cabling into Sun's sites after demonstrating our capabilities to understand the clients Health & Safety related issues. This was a deciding factor when Sun Chemical initially chose a cabling installer.
Recently, we have been involved with Sun Chemicals migration of separate I.T. functions into one Data Centre based in Watford. The data centre manages each of Sun's European sites with links back to the American corporate offices. The nature of the data centre requires meticulous planning of any proposed work with cohesive project management, there is no room for unplanned down time whatsoever.

Cisco Network Equipment is the preferred equipment for Sun Chemical worldwide and consequently it is Cisco equipment that we supply and install for them.

V2 Music is Richard Branson's record label and has its UK base in the very exclusive Holland Park area. The office was at some time a large town house and therefore not designed as a modern day office environment. Perhaps not unsurprisingly, this makes even the smallest cabling installation less than straightforward. The basement communications room is cramped due to the extremely small size of the room; however it was the only area in the basement, which could give reasonable access to the rest of the building without installing large trunking routes. The client did not wish to have any visible large trunking routes in the building.

Although there is an I.T. function within V2, their emphasis is based more on providing support and solutions for MP3 based applications, this means that the infrastructure is left to ASCTEC Online Limited to specify, install and to some degree maintain. The music industry is a dynamic and often changing environment, which often means that we are required at short notice, to provide additional cabling in new premises. As with all our clients, our continued involvement is a testimony to our standards of workmanship and customer care.

Heidelberg Graphic Equipment is one of, if not the, largest supplier of Printing and Pre-Press equipment in the world. ASCTEC Online Limited has been involved with the Pre-Press division for many years, providing cabling infrastructures for their clients through out the UK.
Although a typical installation does not usually consist of many outlets, all Heidelberg installations comprise of equipment able to achieve a true constant network operation speed of 100mbts, therefore, the infrastructure installed has to support this. More and more Heidelberg clients are migrating to Gigabit Ethernet technology and require ASCTEC Online Limited to provide the infrastructure to support this technology.

Printers rely on continuous working to enable them to produce cost efficient but good quality printed material. Therefore, all networks installed into any Heidelberg clients premises have a high fail-safe tolerance designed into the initial specification, to ensure that apart from the unlikely event of a complete server failure, the client can still continue working with their operation.

Recently Hotchkiss decided to upgrade their network in their Eastbourne office from 10baseT Thin Ethernet to Cat 5+, the catalyst for this was the implementation of a new telephone system that would require new cabling in order to access all the benefits of the new telephone system.

Their existing infrastructure was typical of many companies and had evolved by need rather than design and therefore was lots of ‘segments’ rather then a complete network. Asctec were invited to design a new network that would integrate the new telephone and data systems.

The Hotchkiss office had very little in the way of routes and containment to aid the installation and therefore the first priority was to understand the building and with the kind assistance of Hotchkiss develop and install the routes. A large quantity of basket work was used to contain the cable throughout the building.

A comms room was then developed (previously Hotchkiss had no dedicated comms area) to provide secure accommodation for all the equipment required for the telephone and data system.
300 + sockets were installed through out the building with voice links to the new telephone system. The project was completed over a 4 week period with co-operation from the client.
